In the first chapter of Ephesians, the Lord reveals that even before the foundation of the world, it was His plan to adopt us as His children through Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 1:4-5 -

[4] According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

[5] Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as Savior becomes a member of the family of God with all the rights and privileges of sons and daughters. According to Romans 8:17 we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ!

As children of the God of the universe, all of our needs have been provided for. He sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins, and through Christ, He has forgiven us for every one of them.

With sin no longer a barrier between us and God our Father, all of Who He is belongs to us, including love, joy, peace, faith, hope, STRENGTH, and so much more!

The Holy Spirit assures us of that truth in Romans 8:31-32:

Romans 8:31-32

[31] What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

[32] He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

All things! As a loving Father, there is nothing we need that He won't provide . . . freely. And that's not all!

Please take just a few moments to drink in and absorb God's promises to us found in 2 Peter 1:2-4.

2 Peter 1:2-4 scriptures surrounded by flowers

2 Peter 1:2-4

2] Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

[3] According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

[4] Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

These Bible verses are absolutely amazing! God has made all of this available to us, His children! How is it, then, realized in our lives?

Through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. How do we gain this knowledge?

Through the Word! It's all in our Bibles! It works! These scriptures and so many other Bible verses about strength empower us to overcome any difficulty.

How Bible Verses About Strength Helped Me

I got out of bed one morning feeling weak and defeated. This was AFTER the Lord delivered me from a spirit of discouragement that had plagued me for many years. Click here to read my testimony of deliverance from discouragement in my Blog, 25 Scriptures for Victory.

I went down to the room in my house where I have daily morning devotions and sat on the sofa feeling totally disconnected.

I really didn't know what to do. I felt spiritually depleted. We all experience challenges of varying degrees, and of course, the enemy tries to use them to wear us out.

I didn't feel discouraged—I would've recognized that—just spiritually weak.

Feelings are very real. I used to live my life by them. If I felt weak, I would conclude that something I'd done wrong was causing it.

If I felt anything negative, the enemy always presented some "sensible" reason to justify my embracing and living by those negative feelings. At least until the Lord revealed the truth about feelings, which I share in my post titled Trusting God in Difficult Times, which can be accessed here.

While sitting on the sofa that morning, I consciously decided against entertaining the enemy's accusations and condemnation. Instead, I picked up the tin of God's Medicine Scriptures for Victory from the table beside me.

God's Medicine Scriptures is a God-idea birthed out of a desire to have readily available need-specific Bible verses at your fingertips. I opened the tin and began to read.

I thought, "Take each verse as your own—as if God is talking directly to you." I didn't realize it then, but the Holy Spirit brought that thought to mind. I took it to heart as I read each verse.

Sometimes I had to read one verse two or three times to ensure that I drank in every word on a personal level.

To this day, I am still amazed at how I began to feel strength flowing from each scripture. I took my time reading every verse in the tin. By the time I finished reading the last verse, I felt energized!

My spirit was so charged that I was changed when I got up to start my day. I literally felt ready to face any challenge! Those Bible verses about strength, victory, and hope made all the difference!

What changed me?

It was, without question, the application of the Word of God to my life. God's Word really is medicine!

Take a look at Proverbs 4:20-22:

Proverbs 4:20-22 scriptures set in an array of flowers

3

Proverbs 4:20-22

[20] My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

[21] Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

[22] For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

The Greek word translated health in this Bible passage means medicine. That day, I felt like I'd been given a dose of medicine that made me feel completely reenergized.

What is also notable is that had I not elected to apply the Word of God to my life that day, I would've not only felt spiritually depleted, but I would've given place to the enemy to add an air of questioning. What is wrong with me? What did I do? Did I miss God somewhere?

Focusing and meditating on the Word of God provided answers, not questions. It stopped the devil's noise, allowing me to move forward.

It may not seem important, but because the enemy only comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), he'll start anywhere we allow him to start in his efforts against us.

Not focusing and meditating on the Word of God would have left me questioning not only myself but also God. Lord, where are You? I felt fine yesterday.

Of course, the enemy would have all the WRONG answers—the old God-is-mad-at-you, you'll-never-get-this-right routine. Those lines are on the first page of the enemy's playbook.

But getting into the Word of God provides all the RIGHT answers, fuels the soul, and empowers us to put the devil in his place. Where is his place? Under our feet!

Another Quick Story of How God Provides Strength for His Children

I remember rushing out of my house one day about to make a seven-hour drive to a conference. The morning hadn't gone very well; I felt frustration and disappointment. There were things I was believing God for, and the enemy had launched an attack against my faith.

When the enemy attacks our faith, he makes us feel as if the doubt he presents is directly from the seat of our being.  He makes us feel like that is just who we are, and we will never grow beyond it.

I felt vulnerable. I felt like I was losing . . . again.

As I drove down the road that day, battling the enemy's attack, I remember crying out to the Lord for help. The following scripture was illuminated to my heart.

Tower entrance to the heavens

4

Proverbs 18:10

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

I didn't know where it was found, but I repeated the Bible verse I heard in my spirit aloud. Amazingly, all of the frustration and all of the doubt vanished! All of it!

And what a time of praise ensued! The tears flowed—I mean the ugly cry—and I praised God for miles and miles on the road that day.

I was so grateful that God thought enough of me to speak a Word to my heart to rescue me from the enemy's attack. God cared. He saw me, He heard me, and He showed me what to do.

I felt His strength. I felt His rescue.

This is what God does for all His children!

The following Bible verse is powerful. Knowing and using it is very effective against the enemy, but I haven't always known how.

Man on mountaintop holding large cross over his head

5

Luke 10:19

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

It just blesses my heart to know our Heavenly Father looks out for us, fights for us, and shows us how to take refuge in Him as we learn to live victorious lives through the Word.

God is our loving Father, indeed. No matter where we are in our Christian walk, He is always present to help us when we cry out to Him from a sincere heart.
