Find comfort, strength, and encouragement during difficult times through these uplifting Bible verses.

Nail-scarred hands inviting people to come

1 - Matthew 11:28-30

[28] Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

[29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

[30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

As a young child tearfully runs into the arms of a loving parent after a fall or a scare, so I find myself running into the arms of my loving Father God, in times of uncertainty, disappointment, and now . . . just because I can. The peace, comfort, encouragement, strength, hope, and inspiration I receive from Him with just one embrace means everything. It's my favorite place to be in the whole wide world! How He loves us!

I've always known that God loves His people, but it took me years to understand that He LOVES me. Surely not me. I'd never felt I measured up to a standard deserving of His love.

I'd always thought, "I haven't read my Bible, fasted, or prayed enough. If I could only do more of the right things, then I would earn His love."

I. Am. So. Happy. That. God. Opened. My. Eyes. To. See. And. Know. That. He. Loves. Me. Not. Because. Of. Who. I. Am. Or. What. I. Do. But. Because. Of. Who. HE IS!

God IS love! Because He is love, HE LOVES ME, and HE LOVES YOU!

You might say, "But how can He love me? I'm so imperfect! I'm such a failure on so many levels!"

I am, too! But guess what?! Jesus NEVER fails! He is PERFECT, and He wants to share His success with us! Yes! With YOU! With ME! We don't have to be perfect! We just have to run into His arms and trust Him! He'll do the rest! He will, for real!

Encouraging Bible Verses

Following are uplifting Bible verses the Holy Spirit left on record to show just how much God loves us. They are a source of strength, comfort, and hope in every situation.

Psalm 3:3

But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

3

5

Psalm 34:6

This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

Isn't God's Word amazing? I absolutely love it! Reading inspirational Bible verses like these has become a way of life.

It's not something I've always done, but when I turned to God with my whole heart, He helped me.

One encouraging Bible verse that I've committed to memory is Ephesians 6:10-18. Is it a passage you have to memorize to go to Heaven? Not at all, but I have found it quite beneficial in my walk with God. I'll share a story from my experiences explaining why I value these verses.

First, here is the passage I'm referencing, then I'll share my story.

Ephesians 6:10-18

[10]Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

[11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

[12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

[13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

[14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

[15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

[16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

[17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

[18] Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

I’ve heard some say it’s their practice to put their armor on every morning symbolically. They’ll go through the motions of putting on 1) the belt of truth, 2) the breastplate of righteousness, 3) the shoes of peace, 4) the shield of faith, 5) the helmet of salvation, and then take 6) the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and 7) the lance of prayer.

My experience taught me to take it further and sleep in the armor. That was the best decision because I wanted peace and rest to be mine, even while asleep.

I also wanted to be prepared because the enemy would attack me every morning.

Every day, as soon as I sat up in bed, negative thoughts would engulf me. Before my feet would hit the floor, negativity greeted me as if it had been waiting all night long for me to wake up.

But, thank God, I learned that renewing my mind in the Word of God daily is a "real thing" and is quite effective against the enemy's attacks. Therefore, committing Ephesians 6:10-18 to memory was an activity I adopted in my quest to renew my mind in the Word.

7

Romans 12:1-2

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

[2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Let me tell you what happened.

A Personal Experience of Scriptures for Encouragement in Action

I remember waking up one morning, and when I sat up to get out of bed, I heard in my spirit, "Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder." It wasn't like a voice that one would hear if someone were talking audibly in the room, but rather, it came from within. I knew that the Lord had just spoken to my heart.

I'd heard that encouraging Bible verse before, but I wasn't sure where it was found. I grabbed my phone, which had been charging on the nightstand by my bed, and I quickly Googled "Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder."

Psalm 91:13 popped up. I went to the Bible app on my phone to view the entire verse.

8

Psalm 91:13

Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

I realized that the adder, the dragon, which are serpents, and the lion are not to be taken in a literal sense. They represent opposing demonic forces. And I knew that God was empowering me against them through His Word!

I sat in awe as I realized that the God of the universe had spoken to me. God had beaten out the negativity! His truth had spoken before the negativity could find its voice.

God's truth had given me a voice! And I have spoken that very powerful Bible verse, making it my own, time and time again when faced with enemy forces on any front!

I shall tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shall I trample under feet. - Psalm 91:13

I was strengthened, uplifted, and encouraged as the Holy Spirit ministered hope, peace, and comfort to my soul.

Wielding the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, I could put negativity under my feet and walk in victory! Renewing my mind in the Word had once again proven to be a game changer in my life!

And this is just one of the many inspirational Bible verses available to us in the Word of God!

I share this story to inspire readers to delve into the Word of God for encouragement, inspiration, hope, or whatever the need might be. Here's what Jesus says about the Words He speaks:

9

John 6:63

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The Word of God is Spirit and life! The Holy Spirit doesn't just speak to the hearts of the spiritually mature; he wants to speak to everyone!

When we are born again, the Holy Spirit indwells our human spirit. And guess what happens?!

10- John 16:13 - Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

That's for EVERYBODY! That's how much Jesus loves us! He sent the Comforter, the precious Holy Spirit of the living God, to indwell our spirits and guide us to PEACE, ENCOURAGEMENT, VICTORY, HEALING, and so much more!

Here's just another taste of the "so much more!"

33

Deuteronomy 30:19

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

I love this Bible verse! Once I learned how to apply it, it proved a major key to maintaining victory in my life.

At one time, I thought that the day I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, was the day I chose life. And that is true. But I have since learned that because of the enemy's efforts against us to prevent us from enjoying the benefits of our salvation, we have to choose life again and again.

How often do we choose life? EVERY DAY.

We must choose life when we experience hard times, feel hopeless, or need strength in difficult times.

And especially on those days when we feel like God is nowhere around, we must know that He's always with us because He said He'd never leave us. Trust Him. He cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18).

Remember, we walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7)! So choose life . . . EVERY DAY!

34

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

This is another encouraging scripture passage that I committed to memory. I'll tell you why.

In the process of renewing my mind, I would attempt to meditate on the Bible verses I'd read.

Unbelievable! My mind would be all over the place!

Where I need to go?

What I need to do.

What I need to cook.

Family responsibilities.

Work-related obligations.

And a bunch of other stuff. I'd even have a few arguments with people I thought I needed to straighten out! I'd always win them because the people were never there, of course!

Have you ever been there? It's the if-she-says-this-then-I'm-going-to-say-that kind of argument. Yes, I'd always let myself win, but just like any real-life argument, arguments that take place in the mind NEVER lead to peace.

Therefore, I committed Philippians 4:8 to memory to reel my mind in. Whenever I recognized that my thoughts were leading me away from meditating on God's Word, I'd quote these Bible verses to get me back on track. IT WORKS!

I love how God has given us every tool necessary to harness the strength, hope, inspiration, peace, joy, and faith needed to live victorious lives!
